| Aufstehen tells a prisoner
typical day in a Nazi concentration camp, and the slow
but ineluttable depersonalization process.
The music is minimal and so the listener loses the
knowledge of time and space, like the Nazi prisoner, in
another context.
AUFSTEHEN means Wake up! The call was the worst
moment of the prisoner's day because it sanctioned the
end of the sleep, the only human situation.
Today the same word can have an opposite meaning: wake
up! means to fight against every intollerance
and coercion.
